you don't see advertising because they make their money by selling peoples data to marketting companies, so they then know which demographics to target or avoid. the data accumulated on facebook is absolutely PRICELESS to marketting organisations. read the terms os service man, and imagine a 14 year old signing up, its not fair because they have no way of understanding what they are becoming involved in. do you think?

its not about being stupid putting your address etc. its fucked because if you click on something saying im a fan of the mighty boosh (for example) they can then accumulate that data as saying this demographic i.e 21-24 year old from new york like mighty boosh more than 45-50 year olds in new zealand... they can then (as is mentioned) use that data for whatever they want... to make predictions about pop culture, personalities, or whatever! its all about controlling the public!
