I'm from Calcutta, India and the Bengali language does not have the sound V. So Bikram's real name is Vikhram, but both he and other Bengali's cannot pronounce the letter V so they say Bikram. ex: they don't say Very Good, they say Berry Good, they don't say Victory, they say Bhiktory, and Bishnu Ghosh's real name was Vishnu Ghosh. Bikram has lived in the US so long and he still can't pronounce the word V? One would think he would have studied and used his yoga brain?duh... NAMUSTE, nowmustgo!

i bought the set of 4 dvds, and i'm still doing the first one several months after but i still findi t fun and challenging. there is no way ill ever reach his flexibility although it is the journey to getting there that I'm enjoying, and if i never reach his level i dont give a shit because i had fun trying. soon ill crack open the second third and fourth dvds and give them a try. to anyone thinking about getting em do it its a wicked investment.

The only difference between this Ghosh/Bikram style and the Ashtanga that I do is that Ashtanga has vinyasa between the asanas. All the true, traditional styles are essentially the same, you can't go wrong with any of them.

"Panini?" That's funny. Was that a joke or did you mean Patanjali? I hope you intentionally meant panini because that would be hilarious. Anyway, what I like about Tony is that in his website he also gives credit to Swami Sivananda and mentions the little known fact that Bhisnu Gosh worked in conjunction with Swami Sivananda to develop the hatha yoga cirriculum that Bikram minus the heat derived his system from. I never knew that those two styles shared a common lineage. Pretty cool no?
